Le village d’Almod\u00f3var del R\u00edo<\/strong>, situ\u00e9 dans la province de Cordoue, a jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le important dans la d\u00e9fense de cette ville en raison de sa situation strat\u00e9gique, puisqu’il est situ\u00e9 sur une colline d’environ 252 m\u00e8tres<\/strong> pr\u00e8s du fleuve Guadalquivir, qui \u00e9tait navigable \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque par de petits bateaux. Les traces de multiples cultures<\/strong>, notamment musulmane et chr\u00e9tienne, ont marqu\u00e9 le style architectural de cet \u00e9difice incomparable. Au IXe si\u00e8cle, Almod\u00f3var del R\u00edo \u00e9tait connu sous le nom d’Almudawar Al-Adna<\/strong>. Au cours du Xe si\u00e8cle, il \u00e9tait totalement li\u00e9 au califat de Cordoue, puis il a appartenu au XIe et XIIe si\u00e8cles \u00e0 la ta\u00effa de Carmona, puis \u00e0 la ta\u00effa de S\u00e9ville, et enfin \u00e0 l’empire almohade<\/strong>.<\/p>

Le roi maure Abed Mohammed de Baeza<\/strong> meurt aux portes du ch\u00e2teau en 1226, ann\u00e9e o\u00f9 la forteresse tombe aux mains des chr\u00e9tiens apr\u00e8s avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 remise \u00e0 Ferdinand III \u00ab le Saint \u00bb<\/strong>. Depuis lors, le ch\u00e2teau fera l’objet d’agrandissements successifs par les rois castillans Pierre Ier de Castille et Henri II de Trastamare. Le roi Alphonse XI<\/strong> intervint \u00e9galement dans ces agrandissements.<\/p>

Le ch\u00e2teau d’Almod\u00f3var a \u00e9t\u00e9 le t\u00e9moin de nombreux \u00e9v\u00e9nements tout au long de son histoire. Ses murs ont servi de prison \u00e0 Do\u00f1a Juana de Lara<\/strong> (\u00e9pouse de l’infant D. Tello, demi-fr\u00e8re du roi Pedro I), de lieu de conservation des tr\u00e9sors de Castille<\/strong>, et ses cachots ont \u00e9t\u00e9 le th\u00e9\u00e2tre de l’agonie de prisonniers illustres tels que le Ier duc de Benavente.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

M. Rafael Desmaissi\u00e8res y Farina<\/strong>, fils des VIIIe marquis de la Motilla, M. Miguel \u00c1ngel Desmaissi\u00e8res y Fern\u00e1ndez de Santill\u00e1n et Mme Josefa Farina Plasencia, est n\u00e9 en 1853 et a h\u00e9rit\u00e9 du comt\u00e9 de Torralva \u00e0 l’\u00e2ge de 29 ans, devenant ainsi le XIIe comte<\/strong> \u00e0 porter ce titre.<\/p>

Sa curiosit\u00e9 et son insatiable soif de d\u00e9couverte l’ont conduit \u00e0 faire le tour du monde \u00e0 cette \u00e9poque, d\u00e9couvrant des destinations telles que New York ou des pays comme le Japon, dont il a pris d’innombrables notes dans ses carnets de voyage, tout en photographiant tous les recoins. Il a \u00e9galement acquis des objets tout \u00e0 fait novateurs pour l’\u00e9poque, comme un v\u00e9locip\u00e8de, et toutes les inventions qui suscitaient son int\u00e9r\u00eat constant. Ayant des centres d’int\u00e9r\u00eat vari\u00e9s, il a m\u00eame organis\u00e9 le premier club d’aviron sur le fleuve Guadalquivir<\/strong>, qu’il alternait avec le th\u00e9\u00e2tre.<\/p>

\u00c0 la fin du XIXe<\/strong> si\u00e8cle, le comte de Torralva effectue ses premi\u00e8res visites \u00e0 la forteresse d’Almod\u00f3var en compagnie de son bon ami et prestigieux architecte, M. Adolfo Fern\u00e1ndez Casanova<\/strong>. Impressionn\u00e9s par la d\u00e9t\u00e9rioration et l’\u00e9tat de ruine de cette merveilleuse forteresse, et conscients de l’importance qu’elle rev\u00eatait dans l’histoire de l’Andalousie et de l’Espagne, ils d\u00e9cid\u00e8rent de se lancer dans le plus grand projet de leur vie<\/strong>, auquel ils consacr\u00e8rent tout leur temps et leur argent afin de la transformer \u00e0 nouveau en l’impressionnant monument qui couronne aujourd’hui la tour de guet de la commune d’Almod\u00f3var del R\u00edo<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Les travaux d\u00e9butent en 1901<\/strong>. Les premi\u00e8res interventions consistent \u00e0 construire un chemin \u00e0 l’aide de foreuses et de dynamite, car le ch\u00e2teau ne dispose d’aucun acc\u00e8s. C’est la premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape pour commencer \u00e0 transporter les \u00e9normes blocs de pierre<\/strong> qui serviront \u00e0 restaurer les remparts, les cr\u00e9neaux et les tours. Pr\u00e8s de 6 000 m3 provenant de diff\u00e9rentes carri\u00e8res<\/strong> ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9s pendant toute la restauration. C’est ainsi que commence le chantier qui durera jusqu’au d\u00e9clenchement de la guerre civile en Espagne<\/strong>. Quelque 800 ouvriers<\/strong> ont travaill\u00e9 pendant 36 ans<\/strong> pour reconstruire ce monument. Malgr\u00e9 la crise \u00e9conomique que traversait le pays, la Premi\u00e8re Guerre mondiale et les changements politiques incessants, le comte de Torralva a apport\u00e9 pendant la p\u00e9riode de reconstruction de nombreuses ann\u00e9es de stabilit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique au village d’Almod\u00f3var gr\u00e2ce aux quelque 240 000 journ\u00e9es de travail investies dans les travaux. Pendant plus d’un quart de si\u00e8cle, presque tout le village d’Almod\u00f3var a particip\u00e9 aux travaux de reconstruction<\/strong> et de restauration du patrimoine et de l’histoire de la province.<\/p>

Malheureusement, ni l’architecte du projet, Adolfo Fern\u00e1ndez Casanova<\/strong>, ni le comte de Torralva<\/strong> lui-m\u00eame n’ont pu voir leur projet achev\u00e9, puisqu’ils sont d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9s respectivement en 1914 et 1932<\/strong>. Le comte de Torralva ne pouvait gu\u00e8re imaginer l’importance de son \u0153uvre, ni que celle-ci attirerait de nombreux visiteurs venus d’Espagne et du monde entier, redonnant ainsi au village d’Almod\u00f3var le r\u00f4le pr\u00e9pond\u00e9rant qu’il a conserv\u00e9 jusqu’\u00e0 nos jours.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Adolfo Fern\u00e1ndez Casanova<\/strong>, architecte charg\u00e9 de la reconstruction du ch\u00e2teau d’Almod\u00f3var, est n\u00e9 \u00e0 Pampelune le 14 janvier 1844 et d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 le 11 ao\u00fbt 1915. Parmi ses principales r\u00e9alisations architecturales<\/strong> figure la restauration de la cath\u00e9drale de S\u00e9ville<\/strong>. Le travail et l’exp\u00e9rience technique de l’architecte ont jou\u00e9 un r\u00f4le cl\u00e9, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s du comte de Torralva, dans la restauration du ch\u00e2teau d’Almod\u00f3var. Sans ses connaissances, il n’aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 possible de mener \u00e0 bien la restauration de cet imposant ouvrage d’architecture militaire.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
